Hello! I’m Desola, I started TwentySix four years ago. I remember it was a month to my birthday, I had just started a new job and I picked up something I didn’t think would be more than a hobby. It was the starting point for many things in my life.
TwentySix started as a form of expression. When I was growing up, my mother’s first business started from sewing pyjamas for her co-workers’ children and her older sister (the first entrepreneur in the family) started out making clothes; it is something I’ve always been drawn to.
So, I borrowed my cousin’s sewing machine, I wasn’t sure of what I was getting into but I knew I wanted to make my own clothes. A friend of mine was the first to plant the idea that this could be something bigger, I made simple skirts for my friends and myself – one of them said “hey, you could make this work”, I thought about it and started.
There’s a lot of me, as in my personal style in TwentySix. At first, I was worried that not enough people would share those tastes, but it resonated and started a budding community. We invite the creative, expressive, the simple, complex; we are all women in our own unique ways.
TwentySix started with friends in mind and it’s still about friendship, we make our clothing with this at heart – love and good intentions. I want you to feel comfortable when you wear our clothing, to feel that TwentySix goodness.
We want you to dress up and express yourself out there.
With love xx.
PS: Remember the machine I “borrowed” from my cousin? It still lives and is used in production till today.
